1. Target Audience: Totally Blind vs Low Vision

  • Totally Blind: No light perception. They use Screen Readers (voice).
  • Low Vision: Has residual vision but drastically reduced acuity. This is where Color Contrast becomes critical for readability.

2. WCAG 2.1 Passing Standards

  • Level AA: Minimum ratio 4.5:1 for normal text.
  • Level AAA: Minimum ratio 7:1. Recommended for long paragraphs.
  • Exceptions: Large text (18pt+) requires only 3:1.
